10th generation Intel processors can hurt with TDP values Intel, which has gone to a new micro design and socket concept with the 10th generation, does not want to lose the market to AMD. The new processors, which offer high clock speeds and overclocking potential, seem to be very happy in terms of performance. However, the fact that the production stays in the 14 nm band brings the heat problem to the minds for the processors aiming to offer such a high level of performance. According to the incoming performance leaks, the i3-10300 will have similar performance to the i7-7700K. This indicates that Intel is both ambitious at the top and bottom. Although this temperature problem at the lower and middle levels cannot be overwhelmed, especially the upper level i9 processors have come up with temperature problems. With 10 cores and 20 tracks, the i9-10900F has a 2.8 GHz base and 5.2 GHz turbo frequency. The processor, which can reach 4.6 GHz with all core speeds, can increase to 224W TDP under full load. In a test with the Intel Core i9-10900F, it turned out that the processor consumes 224W at full load. The only difference between 10900K and 10900F is that the F series does not have an internal graphics unit. For a comparison, the Intel Core i9-9900KS with 8 cores and 5 GHz frequency has 170W at maximum load, the 16-core AMD Ryzen 9 3950X has 146W power consumption at full load. This shows that 10th generation processors need high level cooling. In the test with 240mm liquid cooler, the 10900F can reach 93 degrees at full load. With an average of 70-75 degrees, the processor can go up to 83 degrees at 170W with a good air cooler. We know that the Thermal Speed Boost feature takes over when the processor temperature is 65 degrees or less. In this case, we can say that it is almost impossible to increase all the cores of the processor to 4.6 GHz level. Intel will follow an aggressive policy on the prices of 10th generation processors. However, if you want to buy a high level Intel processor, you may need to allocate a good amount of money to the cooling part. Motherboard manufacturers have stated that they are prepared for high temperatures. Especially high-level Z490 motherboards will offer a good thermal solution. However, we do not yet know how much they will have on the processor.
